Roush Fenway looks to rebuild after rough 2014 season (The Associated Press)

Team owner Jack Roush, right, listen to a question from the media during the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour in Charlotte, N.C., Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. (AP Photo/Chuck Burton)Roush Fenway Racing enters a season of rebuilding following a self-described ''brutal'' 2014 that included just two Sprint Cup wins and top driver Carl Edwards defection to Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the year. Although RFR placed two cars in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, the organization failed to win in the second-tier then-Nationwide Series and team president Steve Newmark said the company fell well short of expectations. ''If you had walked through the halls of Roush Fenway during the latter part of last season, there would have been a high level of dissatisfaction,'' Newmark said Wednesday at NASCAR's annual media tour. ''We set goals for ourselves and didn't meet them.'' Edwards won both Cup races for RFR last season and reached the third round of the Chase before being eliminated.

(AP Photo/Chuck Burton)Tony Stewart won't be back in a sprint car, by his own estimation, for ''a very, very long time.'' But the three-time NASCAR champion can't bear to be away from the grass-roots level of racing, and he has added another piece to his growing portfolio by acquiring the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series - one of the oldest, traveling sprint car organizations in the country. ''My passion for sprint car racing is well known, and the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series has been a pillar of the sport for a long time,'' Stewart said Wednesday. Stewart also owns Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, and fields two World of Outlaws cars out of Tony Stewart Racing.

Patrick heads into 2015 in final season with team, sponsor (The Associated Press)

Driver Danica Patrick speaks to the media during the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour in Charlotte, N.C., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. (AP Photo/Chuck Burton)Danica Patrick begins her third full season at NASCAR's top level facing an uncertain future. Her contract with Stewart-Haas Racing is in its final year, as is the contract between primary sponsor GoDaddy and the race team. Patrick said she planned to remain at SHR as long as she has the support of co-owners Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, and the support of GoDaddy and other sponsors. He compared her with Joey Logano, who needed time to adapt after his move to Cup racing and his career didn't take off until he left Joe Gibbs Racing for Penske Racing before 2013.

Kurt Busch focusing on racing amid domestic violence case (The Associated Press)

Driver Kurt Busch speaks to the media during the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour in Charlotte, N.C., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. (AP Photo/Chuck Burton)Kurt Busch is confident he is in line for his best NASCAR season ever despite a domestic violence case that could keep him off the track. Busch said Tuesday at NASCAR's annual media tour he is eager for a resolution to the highly-publicized case involving ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll, who claims Busch assaulted her in his motorhome at Dover International Speedway last September. Busch wouldn't say if he's heard from NASCAR about a possible suspension. ''My years of experience with teams in the second year have always produced the best result.'' He said he doesn't feel the domestic violence case will be a distraction for him or his teammates.

NASCAR's Brian Vickers eager to race after heart surgery (The Associated Press)

Driver Brian Vickers speaks to the media during the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour in Charlotte, N.C., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. (AP Photo/Chuck Burton)Brian Vickers is eager to get back on the racetrack and prove to everyone he still has what it takes to win Sprint Cup races following emergency open heart surgery last month. ''Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated,'' Vickers said Tuesday during NASCAR's annual media week. ''I am still kicking.'' Vickers will miss the first two Cup races as part of his recovery process, but has been given a clean bill of health to begin racing March 8 at Las Vegas. He will drive the No. 55 Aaron's Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing.
