NASCAR to leave championship format unchanged in 2015 (The Associated Press)

The Chase was revamped last year into an elimination-style system that created a winner-take-all final race among four drivers. Kevin Harvick won the season finale at Homestead in November to claim his first Sprint Cup title. France called it ''perhaps the best Chase ever'' and said the excitement will carry into this season.

Vickers will miss only the first two races of the season before he returns to his Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota. NASCAR on Tuesday granted him a waiver to make him eligible for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship should he qualify. Team co-owner Michael Waltrip will drive the No. 55 for Vickers in the season-opening Daytona 500.
