Earnhardt crossed the finish line at 2:41 am Monday morning filled with dread after Dillon's car sailed upside down into the fence then shot back onto the track. A stunned Earnhardt seemed speechless as he crossed the finish line.

Gordon, a three-time Daytona 500 winner, announced in January he plans to retire from full-time racing and become part of Fox's broadcasting crew in 2016.

NASCAR has already said it will use a package with less downforce next weekend at Kentucky Speedway, and that same package could be used at Darlington Raceway next month. Now it appears a package with a higher level of drag is in the works for Indy and Michigan.
